Logistics Manager

We are looking for a Logistics Manager; this is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Operations.

Education:
Undergraduate degree preferred with minimum 5-7 years transport/distribution/logistics management experience.

Experience:
Knowledge of renewable energy products and industry standards, proficiency with ORACLE Software, APICS Certifications; Multi-lingual a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Negotiates and establishes relationships and contracts with all shipping carriers
  • Maintains and develops positive business relationships with key personnel involved in or directly relevant to a logistics activity
  • Reviews all carrier rate sheets to ensure that we are getting the best rates possible
  • Works with executive management in the creation of standard rate sheets for outbound shipping
  • Analyzes and makes recommendations for the capture of indirect costs on inventory
  • Reviews landed cost statistics and develops processes to reduce expenses
  • Works with suppliers to ensure that product is delivered to our specifications (IC/QA)
  • Works with packaging suppliers to develop/engineer packaging solutions that are cost effective but also protect product in transport
  • Works with carriers in reporting of issues related to poor handling of product
  • Develops process with customer service to expedite freight claims
  • Maintains and reviews contracts for Marine & Cargo insurance policies
  • Stays informed of logistics technology advances, and applies appropriate technology in order to improve logistics processes
  • Reviews logistics performance with customers and suppliers against targets, benchmarks and service agreements

Specific Skills:

  • Provide managerial support
  • Analyze and coordinate the logistical functions of the AEE organization
  • Manage processes involved in a supply chain and liaises with a variety of parties, including suppliers of raw materials, manufacturers, carriers, and possibly retailers
  • Negotiate all carrier rates, delivery times, contracts, freight insurance, and compliance with all international shipping law and regulations within the company
  • Manage transportation, stock control, warehousing, and ensure structures are in place to monitor the flow of goods and materials

Additional Experience:

  • ERP systems
  • Purchasing, expediting, MRP/ ERP systems, quality/continuous improvement initiatives, and manufacturing safety practices
  • Experience in a commercial environment, specifically with estimating and materials management
  • Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access

Essential Physical Functions:
Physical - typing on a keyboard, data entry, filing, and may require lifting heavy boxes.
Visual - reading and or research on a computer screen.
Audio - inbound and outbound telephone calls, noise from the warehouse (office is located in a warehouse).

Equipment Used:
Personal workstation: desk, computer, cell and/or telephone, file cabinet.

Finally, our Logistics Manager candidate will be a person of high integrity with a strong all-around set of technical skills and a commitment and sense of urgency to making things happen.

Compensation will be based on experience.
