Power-One's Aurora grid-tie inverters feature high energy yield and performance efficiencies of up to 97%. Power One Aurora inverters have a field-adjustable "start voltage" point that allows low end PV operating voltage down to 90 VDC. While there is some loss of efficiency at lower voltage settings, the inverter can operate with as few as 5 standard 60-cell modules in series. Inverters are shopped from the factory set at a 200 VDC starting voltage point, which yields the highest efficiency.
Aurora Communicator software, included with each inverter, requires an RS-485 to USB communication module for connection to PC. The PVI-DESKTOP device provides remote monitoring with a color touch-screen display and connects up to 6 inverters with either a wired or wireless option. Bluetooth models will wirelessly connect to a BLuetooth-enable PC for free firmware updates. Aurora Vision and the Aurora Universal monitoring system offer full web-based monitoring.

Power One Aurora PVI Inverters
Power-One's Aurora PVI inverters have two separate MPPT input sections, allowing for two sub-arrays to be configured with differing string lengths, orientations, or even different sizes, brands, or types of PV modules. Conditions on one string will not affect the other. Additionally, the PVI inverters have two input terminals for each separate MPPT section allowing as many as four strings of modules (two on each MPPT) to be connected without separate string fusing. Both MPPT sections can also be paralleled for use with a single array. A wide input voltage range allows for low wattage installations with reduced string sizes here needed, The Aurora PVI series are some of the most flexible string inverters available.
An integrated LCD displays real-time operating parameters, and RS-485 and USB interfaces can connect remote monitoring systems. An integrated DC disconnect is standard on all "S" models (models without a DC disconnect are available by special order). Aurora PVI inverters can produce full-rated power at ambient temperatures up to 122°F (50°C). The fan-less design and NEMA 4X enclosure provide a water and airtight seal. Output voltage can be set for 240 VAC split-phase, or 208 VAC or 277 VAC (480 VAC WYE) for 3-phase systems (3 inverters required for phase balancing).
All PVI inverters are Listed to UL 1741/IEEE 1547 and CSA-C22.2N.107.1-01 for the U.S. and Canada, and come with a 10-year warranty, which is extendable to 15 or 20 years.
Tech Tip:
Power One makes inverters for negative or positive grounded PV arrays ("isolated" and with an "-I-" in the model number), and also transformerless inverters for non-grounded arrays. When using a transformerless inverter, all PV array wiring must be double insulated (PV wire), and if a seprarte DC fused string combiner is used, the combiner must provide for fusing on both the positive and negative conductors. Similarly, any external DC disconnect switches must disconnect both the positive and negative conductors.
Power One Aurora PVI Transformerless Inverters
Power-One's Aurora transformerless single-phase inverters are available in sizes covering the most common residential requirements, and can be used in groups of three for small to medium sized commercial three-phase applications. The transformerless design reduces internal power losses for high efficiences. Output voltage can be 240 VAC split-phase, or 208 VAC or 277 VAC (480 VAC WYE) for three-phase systems. All five units have dimensions of 33.75" H x 12.75" W x 8.25" D, including the DC disconnect.

The Aurora PVI 10kW and 12kW inverters have full three-phase power output, allowing a single inverter to provide balanced output on all three phases. These inverters contain no electrolytic capacitors and are housed in a fan-less NEMA 4X enclosure for long life even in harsh conditions. The 10kW unit is field-selectable for 208 VAC three-phase Delta, or 277 VAC (480 VAC WYE) three-phase output. The 12kW unit has 277 VAC (480 VAC WYE) three-phase output. Both models are also available with 600 VAC output for use in Canada.
"S" models have a DC disconnect and the "S2" models have both a DC and an AC disconnects. All versions have inputs for us to four strings (two per MPPT). The "S2" versions are available with fused input kits mountable inside the inverter to allow six total strings (three per MPPT). Both the 10kW and the 12kW inverters, S and S2 models, are 37.7" H x 25.4" W x 8.8" D. The 10kW Aurora PVI inverter received an A+ from Photon International after their independent laboratory tests.

Power One Monitoring Options
The PVI DESKTOP features touch screen color TFT display and can communicate with up to 6 PVI inverters either wirelessly or via RS-485 with CAT5 cables. The DESKTOP system can also be linked via Bluetooth or USB to a personal computer and the Internet. Wireless communication requires a PVI-RADIOMODULE on each inverter, which provides a 1000 ft. open-air range.
Aurora Vision is an Internet-based software solution that provides performance and operational metrics, from a variety of Power One or 3rd-party data acquisition tools, that are displayed in a customizable dashboard.
Aurora Universal monitoring systems seamlessly integrate balance-of-system components (inverters, string combiners, environmental systems) from Power One and a wide range of 3rd Party vendors. It integrates easily with Aurora Vision and Fat Spaniel Prime Software-as-a-Service solutions for fast installation and smart grid integration.
The Aurora Universal Residential monitoring system works with Aurora Vision software to enable homeowners to track energy production, system performance, and environmental benefits of their PV system, The system can be remotely configured or upgraded over the Internet. The indoor enclosure measures 5.5" W x 5.25" H x 1" D and provides both serial and Ethernet ports for multiple inputs (RS-232, RS-485, and USB ports). 10-years of monitoring service is included, with extensions available.
The Aurora Universal Commercial monitoring system provides all of the features of the Aurora Universal Residential monitoring system, plus revenue grade metering and optional communication systems for a wide range of commercial PV system applications. The integrated revenue grade energy meter is approved by the California Energy Commission as well as other REC aggregators as eligible for performance based incentives. This bi-directional meter can be used for generation, net or demand metering. Users log in to their Aurora Vision account from a web browser to access data and manage their system. The server provides not only real-time and historical data, but also alarms, reports, rates analysis, logbooks, and more. The hardware comes mounted in a 16" W x 20" H x 6" D NEMA 4 /4X enclosure and is Listed to UL 508A, UL/CSA/EN/IEC 61010-1 for the U.S. and Canada.
The Aurora Environmental system monitors site meteorological conditions and PV module temperature in real-time, transmitting sensor measurements to the FST data center for site status monitoring and management. The Aurora Environmental Meteorological Measurement System consists of a Meteorological Module (MM) and a Power Distribution and Communications Module (PDCM). The Aurora Environmental requires a user supplied mast and AC power for the PDCM. An automatic system configuration process completes the setup.
